We’re making it easier by sharing our positions on the six that matter for housing voters in the Bay Area.</span></p>

<h4><span style="color: var(--color-text); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text);">NPH supports these four measures to address California’s critical housing and community needs:</strong></span></h4><h4><a href="http://housingbondca.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Yes on Proposition 1: Build the Affordable Homes California Needs!</strong></a></h4><p>Yes on Proposition 1 will deliver more than 40,000 homes across our state. It’s the most important housing issue on the ballot, will invest $11.2 billion in affordable housing in every part of our state, and is sponsored by Bay Area Assembly Member Buffy Wicks and State Senator Christopher Cabaldon. NPH strongly supports Proposition 1 and encourages you to vote yes! <a href="mailto:community@nonprofithousing.org" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">We also welcome you to donate and volunteer if you are able!</a><strong><br></strong></p><h4><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">Yes on Proposition 3: Protect our Schools, Healthcare and Housing!</span></h4><p>Passing Proposition 3 will prevent billions in state budget cuts to our local schools and healthcare. If we don’t pass this measure it will soon mean larger class sizes, laying off teachers, and major cuts to healthcare and Medi-Cal. This is not a new tax and does not raise taxes. It simply extends the existing tax rates on the wealthiest that have been in place for more than a decade, preventing billions in cuts to public schools and healthcare.<strong><br></strong></p><h4><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><a href="https://voteyeson37.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Yes on Proposition 37: Bring Homeownership to Middle-Class Californians!</a></span></h4><p>Proposition 37 is a statewide ballot measure focused on expanding access to homeownership for the middle class and increasing the supply of new homes to make housing more affordable. For many people, the biggest barrier to buying a home isn’t the monthly payment. It’s the down payment. This measure would help the “missing middle” through a new program helping Californians afford homes.<strong><br></strong></p><h4><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><a href="https://yesonprop45.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Yes on Proposition 45: Building an Affordable California</a></span></h4><p>Voting Yes on Proposition 45 would streamline project approvals to lower costs, protect our environment, and deliver the housing, hospitals, clean energy, and infrastructure Californians need. From setting deadlines for local agencies to act on environmental review to limiting lawsuits against affordable housing, the measure will help build affordable housing faster and at a lower cost.</p>

Opposes

<p>The Bay Area is one of the most dynamic regions in the world, but it’s also one of the most expensive places to live. Families are being priced out, workers are commuting longer and farther than ever, and stable housing is getting harder to find. <span style="color: var(--color-bg1-text); text-decoration-color: var(--color-bg1-text);"><strong>The solution is more affordable housing, but we need your help to make it happen.</strong></span></p><p>Voting is one of the most powerful tools you can use to shape the future of your community. This year, voters like you across the Bay Area will have the chance to support critical measures that fund housing, invest in our families and communities, and strengthen our region.</p><p><strong>Vote in Person or Return Your Ballot Before November 3.</strong></p>

<h1>Let’s Bring Housing to the Bay Area!</h1>

<h4><span style="color: var(--color-text); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text);">NPH opposes these two measures, because they would make it harder for you to vote and for local communities to fund affordable housing priorities:</span></h4><h4><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">NO on Proposition 39: Protect Your Right To Vote!</span></h4><p>Current law makes it easy to vote in California once you are registered, by preventing local officials from adding barriers to voting. Proposition 39 would require every voter to show acceptable photo identification every time they vote, slowing down the voting process for all, and adding millions in new costs. For some people, this could deny them the right to vote altogether if they forget their ID or need to have it renewed.<strong><br></strong></p><h4><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><a href="https://www.taxpayerdeceptionact.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">NO on Proposition 43: Protect Local Affordable Housing Funding!</a></span></h4><p>California communities have important rights to make our own decisions at the ballot box about how we raise and spend our own money locally. The Local Taxpayer Deception Act weakens those rights. By requiring a two-thirds supermajority to pass dedicated taxes proposed by voter petitions, this measure will block critically important investments in affordable housing and homelessness solutions, public schools, and fire protection and emergency services, even when voters propose those solutions ourselves.</p>
